LONDON (CBS) Every bride wants to look stunning on her wedding day, and princess-to-be Kate Middleton seems to be no exception.

For the last year or so, you will have noted that the princess-in-waiting has reformed and retrained her figure, shown off to stunning effect during the photo call and interview following the announcement of her engagement to Prince William on Nov. 16.

So how do you get the Middleton look? Through sheer hard work.

The bride-to-be reportedly makes sure she is not tempted by fattening snacks by always eating healthily and cooking organic food where possible while in Wales with William.

A typical day will see Middleton start with organic porridge or muesli, wholemeal toast and tea. Mid-morning, she might have a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts to stave off hunger. Lunch tends to be a healthy choice like salad and low-fat cuts of meat like chicken, turkey or tuna.

Dinner will be something shared with William but will include masses of vegetables or salad, and meats like chicken or steamed salmon. A source tells me that Middleton "loves to steam things as she knows that the goodness stays in, vitamin-wise, that way." An after-dinner snack may be a square of dark chocolate or fruit salad with Greek yogurt.

Insiders reveal that Middleton is a not a huge eater: "She is not one that will grab biscuits or sugary snacks all day long - like the Queen, she sees food as fuel to keep the body going and is keen to maintain that throughout her move into royal life."

To keep fit, Middleton embraces swimming and can often be found in the summer months at the Buckingham Palace pool. Squash, running and warm up workouts are also said to be staples of her fitness regime.

As for her hair, she never uses the same shampoo for longer than a month as she thinks it creates buildup and stops being effective. And while she has the best beauty products at her fingertips, she is, like all women, keen to experiment with more home-grown and cheaper alternatives. She has been known to use the white of an egg as a quick fix to perk up sallow skin, and Vaseline is another favorite that she uses as lip gloss and even for an instant sheen  on her cheeks.

Middleton is not a sun worshipper and reportedly hates the idea of tanning, saying that "it really does age you."

A source adds, "Being Kate Middleton is not an easy look to achieve and I think she has worked out simply what is best for her. But with the Royal wedding now confirmed, she is not planning to change a single thing about her diet or shape. 'Prince William says I am just fine as I am so why would I want to do anything about that.'"

And with that royal seal of approval, who can blame her?
