NEW YORK (CBS) Wasn't it just two weeks ago on "The Amazing Race" when Chad got down on one knee and proposed to Stephanie in the Middle East?
Well, Chad Waltrip, 26, and Stephanie Smith, 23, are now married and expecting a baby in June.
According to People magazine, the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., couple were married this month in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., in a small ceremony at a friend's house.
"We were going to get married in March, but we didn't see the point in waiting because I'm three months pregnant and due in June," the blonde hairstylist told the magazine.
Though they had been dating for just a few months, Waltrip, an operations manager, had planned all along to pop the question during the reality TV show. Then in Oman during the Nov. 14 episode, with the sun coming up over the Muscat waterfront, Chad got down on one knee and offered Stephanie a ring he had been carrying around the world. It had belonged to his mother.
Stephanie accepted and the race continued, but the newly engaged couple only made it for one week - they were eliminated in the Nov 24 episode. The race, which Stephanie described as "couple's therapy every night," was a rocky one for the two, with Chad frequently losing his temper and berating Stephanie.
"At the end of the day," Chad told People, "we still love each other despite some of the things I said and did on "The Race."
