(CBS/AP) An Oakland elementary school was placed on lockdown Monday afternoon after an anonymous tip of a possible gunman inside, but school officials say all the students are safe.
Oakland Unified School District spokesman Troy Flint says all students except for one class already have been evacuated from La Escuelita Elementary School. Flint says the remaining class of special needs students is not in danger.
Police were searching the campus, and no gunman has been found.
Flint says the district received a phone call around 12:45 p.m. from a man who said someone had entered the school armed with a rifle.
Flint says all the children are accounted for and were being taken to a parking lot for parents to pick them up.
